Brain Tumors

Each year, the Gerald J. Glasser Brain Tumor Center gives hope to more than a thousand families. We know a brain tumor diagnosis is a difficult experience for patients and their families. With confidence and compassion, we help patients and their loved ones navigate the journey from comprehensive diagnosis to personalized treatment. Our team of multidisciplinary experts is here for you with state-of-the-art care, guidance and support.

Understanding Brain Tumors

A brain tumor is a growth of abnormal cells in the brain, which can be cancerous (malignant) or not cancerous (benign). Benign brain tumors grow slowly, tend to not spread to other areas of the body and have defined borders. Malignant tumors, in contrast, grow quickly and are more invasive. Both may be considered life threatening, depending upon their location and if they interfere with vital bodily functions.

Some tumors start in the brain (primary brain tumors). In other cases, cancer starts elsewhere in the body and spreads to the brain (metastatic tumors). No matter which type, our team of specialists is here for you and your loved ones.
